Veterans' 95th Birthday at Mill Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation

March 3, 2020
Galion, Ohio - Today we celebrate Paul's 95th birthday. Paul was born at his home in Whetstone Township to Glen and Barbara. Paul graduated in 1943 from North Robinson High School. This Army Veteran was stationed in Europe during World War II. One story his daughter shares is that when he got home on leave one time, he took a train to Crestline. Upon arriving off the train, he went home to a dark house. To awaken his parents, he threw stones at their window.

Paul married Lucille on August 15th, 1948, raising four daughters that he is proud of. He has 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He lived in the same home his whole life before coming to Mill Creek.

This 95-year-old dairy and grain farmer had a herd of 45 cows milking them twice a day for 30 years. Paul is very proud that he raised his own registered Holsteins. Paul recalls farming with horses in his younger years. Great inventions for this resident were a combine and a milking machine.

Paul was active in the community being an usher for the United Methodist Church, a 4H advisor for the Dairy Maids and Gents, American Legion, Grange, Farm Bureau Council, Tri-Star, and Country Star board of directors.

Paul and his spouse enjoyed traveling to Europe and throughout the United States. His favorite vacation getaway was Branson, Missouri.
Favorite activities are reading, following the Colonel Crawford Eagles, Cleveland Indians, and Ohio State sports, outings to the zoo, country rides, and dining out. He attended the first Cleveland Indians night game that had lights.

His advice to others is, "Work hard, play fair, and trust God."

Mill Creek wishes Paul a Happy Birthday.
